I actually dropped some shows this year too. I loved the first season of EMPIRE but man did it slide downhill this season, and fast! The DYNASTY vibe is gone as the writers have overwhelmed themselves with new faces and fallen down the spiral of getting caught up in campy dialogue while forgetting the nuances of the characters. It’s a major bummer because it was easily one of the best series last year.
I enjoyed WICKED CITY and BLOOD AND OIL on ABC too. They both have plenty of issues but there was a lot of potential there too, especially with Ed Westwick doing a fantastic job over on CITY. It’s too bad that neither could really fall into the groove of their soapy-genres.
I am most excited for LEGENDS OF TOMORROW and THE 100. I have said it before and I will say it again: The CW is the strongest network channel. Their brand is on point and the only “misses” on the schedule are old standards that have been around since before they became a great place for female-driven comedies and the center of DC’s TV universe.
Last year was one of the best years every for film, and I think 2016 will be that for 2016.
